Nearly 300 jobseekers turned out for a hiring event this week to apply for 40 positions with a new customer contact center in Hazard.
Wellcare, in partnership with the Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program (EKCEP) and Kentucky Career Center JobSight, hosted the hiring event at the Hazard JobSight on Tuesday, June 26. By the end of the day, company representatives had interviewed 293 applicants.
Wellcare provides government-sponsored managed care services through Medicaid in Kentucky. Available positions in Perry County include entry-level and supervisory, and workers will be located at Wellcare’s offices at the Hazard Village Shopping Center.
EKCEP, a nonprofit workforce development agency headquartered in Hazard, Ky., serves the citizens of 23 Appalachian coalfield counties. The agency provides an array of workforce development services, administers the Hiring Our Miners Everyday (H.O.M.E.) program for dislocated coal miners and their spouses, and is the White House-designated lead organization for the federal TechHire designation for Eastern Kentucky.
