Job Duties:

  • Works with managers and appropriate staff to gather information for proposals and coordinates preparation of proposals, grant applications, etc.
  • Acquires information about potential funding sources (local, state and federal) including current guidelines, giving histories, and other relevant information.
  • Develops relationships with current and potential funders to strengthen their connection to the District.
  • Works closely with the Finance Office to ensure proper reporting and accounting of grants.
  • Manages and meets a schedule of grant deadlines, reporting timelines and deliverables.
  • Works closely with city and county governments and local communities within the District to assist with short- and long-range planning efforts and project development.
  • Responsible for the development, submittal and administration of any resulting loan/grant applications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Additional Information:
The Kentucky River Area Development District, an eight county planning and development agency, is accepting applications for a Grant Writer / Community Development Planner. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Excellent writing, editing and oral communication skills, highly organized and detail oriented • Ability to handle multiple tasks and complete work in a timely, deadline oriented manner. • Ability to work independently as well as collaborating with a team. • Much of the work is performed in office with outside travel, regardless of weather conditions, being required. Presentation to committees, evening and night time meetings required, as well as some overnight travel. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in closely related field or related job experience • Have good working knowledge of computers and software applications • Possess a valid driver’s license • Possess good written and oral communication skills • Knowledge of reporting and record keeping requirements • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, the public and elected officials All applicants must submit to a criminal record check and drug screening.
